People of all ages are turning to CBD for its many therapeutic benefits. But one group of people who can really benefit from CBD is seniors. A recent survey shows that seniors are indeed taking advantage of CBD – and that it may be improving their lives!
Many seniors struggle with chronic health problems that can affect their physical and mental health. Growing old is a fact of life! But thankfully, CBD’s many beneficial properties can work to improve symptoms and to help seniors feel like their younger selves again!
A recent survey of 1000 seniors aged 54 or older found that 51% of seniors who used CBD reported an improvement in their quality of life. It’s no surprise then that seniors are one of the fastest-growing demographics of cannabis and CBD users.
What’s driving so many seniors to CBD? The same survey revealed that seniors are using CBD to help them manage a range of physical and mental conditions.
42% of respondents indicated that they had used CBD to help them manage inflammation, and 40% had used it to manage chronic pain. 38% of surveyed seniors also reported that they relied on CBD to treat their arthritis – a condition known for causing inflammation and pain.
Studies indicate that CBD may be able to calm down inflammation and relieve the inflammatory pain that comes with it. With inflammation and pain being the two most common symptoms of arthritis, more and more seniors are turning to CBD to help them manage the condition.
Additionally, many seniors also indicated that they regularly used CBD to treat mental or psychological problems. Approximately 28% of those surveyed said that they used CBD to treat anxiety, and another 22% said they used it to manage stress. Another 12% indicated that they used CBD to improve symptoms of depression.
Research shows that CBD may be effective in the treatment of numerous anxiety disorders and may even be able to improve the symptoms of depression. For seniors, CBD can be an excellent tool for fighting off anxiety without having to experience any kind of intoxication.
One of the benefits of CBD is that it can be enjoyed without exposure to potentially harmful smoke or vapor. In fact, over half of surveyed seniors said that they preferred to consume CBD in the form of sublingual drops, with edibles and capsules coming second.
And lastly, thanks to CBD’s minimal side effect profile, most seniors are able to tolerate it just fine. Only 12% of surveyed seniors reported suffering from dry mouth, the most common side effect.
